Connect by Hertz Expands One-way Car Sharing Program and Eliminates Membership Fees
Metro-New York car sharing members can drop off cars at over 100 locations and members across the U.S. will no longer pay membership fees effective May 1, 2011.
Connect by Hertz, Hertz's global car sharing club, announced the expansion this week of its one-way program, significantly increasing the number of locations members can pick up or drop off their vehicle. The program allows members to rent one way from any of more than 100 locations in greater New York City, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., the Hamptons and Hoboken, NJ. Locations include all of the New York City area airports, LaGuardia, JFK and Newark. As the program expands, Hertz states that Connect members will eventually be able to rent one-way from New York City to other Connect cities and college campuses throughout the country.
Connect by Hertz also announces that effective May 1, 2011, U.S. member benefits will include the elimination of all membership fees in the U.S.; guaranteed vehicle availability Monday through Thursday, increased vehicle options, the introduction of membership enrollment kiosks in New York City and an enhanced member Web site.
According to Hertz, Connect by Hertz is the first international car sharing program to provide a fee free membership experience in the U.S. New members are no longer required to pay an enrollment fee while all current members will enjoy the financially beneficial elimination of yearly membership fees, saving up to $75 a year for new members and $50 a year for existing members.
