The 6 City Average rate quotes in April increased in the second and third weeks but fell back below $40 in the fourth week. The monthly average ended up $3.49 below March.
City managers in Houston and Chicago must be smiling; both cities’ quotes are significantly higher than a year ago. At that time those rates were pretty much in line with other cities, but today they are about double those of the four other cities. Houston’s average quote in the second week of April was $91.51 per day (for an ICAR) — except for two weeks during Christmas in Miami, which is the highest we have seen since we started this survey a year ago.
In spite of the fallback in April, rates should be significantly stronger over the summer than a year ago.

These tables and graph show the average of all base rate quotes per day for an ICAR at the six airports shown for arrivals 15 to 21 days ahead of the date of the survey, for two- and seven-day rentals. If the arrival date is a Friday or Saturday, the two-day rate will be a weekend rate, otherwise it will be a regular rate.
