LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Abrams Travel Data Services (ATD) has launched a quarterly survey aimed at measuring rental car industry performance. A report summarizing the results is available to survey participants free of charge.
The quarterly survey tracks such benchmarks as rental days sold, average length of rental, rental volume, utilization rate, daily dollar average, and fleet and personnel expense as a percentage of revenue. A confidence index for upcoming quarters will also be featured.
Individual company statistics will remain confidential.
"The ATD Car Rental Operator Benchmark Survey will offer operators, and those who have an interest in the performance of the industry, an authoritative database to track the industry's health and business climate -- and a means to compare individual company performance to standards segmented on the basis of region, market mix and fleet size," said Jon LeSage, ATD vice president and director of research.
Survey participants submit survey forms electronically to ATD "under strict confidentiality and data protection procedures," LeSage said. "Their data will be aggregated with information provided by the other participating operators, so that it would be impossible to identify the benchmark numbers of any one operator."
ATD is a business unit of Abrams Consulting Group. Survey results will also become available to subscribers of ATD's Car Rental Market Scan e-newsletter.
To participate in the study, go to ATD.
