DETROIT -- Rental fleets this year will play a prominent role in exposing Chrysler's vehicles to the buying public, according to a report this week in the Detroit Free Press.
Gary Dilts, senior vice president of sales for DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group, outlined the plan during a talk at the annual Automotive News World Congress in Dearborn.
More than 8,000 loaded 2004 vehicles will be placed in a dozen rental markets, including Palm Springs, Dallas and Atlanta, Dilts reported. The rental program will involve about 5,000 redesigned Chrysler and Dodge minivans, 2,500 Chrysler 300 series sedans, and about 1,000 PT Cruiser convertibles.
