Enterprise Holdings will host Thursday its third annual Clean Car Championship in Orlando, Fla., pitting some of the best and fastest car cleaners in the country against one another.

Six rental car service agents from airports across North America - representing the Alamo Rent A Car, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and National Car Rental brands - will compete for the gold medal and a $1,000 grand prize.

"Providing clean, well-maintained cars for our car rental customers is priority number one for us," said John Murphy, vice president of airport operations for Alamo, Enterprise and National. "The Clean Car Championship was created in 2008 to emphasize the importance of cleanliness throughout the entire rental car industry and to highlight the critical work of our service agents in ensuring customers are completely satisfied with their rental experience."

Alamo, Enterprise and National service agents clean and refuel nearly 18 million vehicles each year.

The Clean Car Championship competition on May 20 challenges the finalists to clean two standard-sized vehicles and one SUV or minivan in 45 minutes. The process includes checking the vehicle fluids and tire pressure and cleaning the trunk, floor mats, seats, glove box, windows and tires. Judges will award a gold medal and the title of the best and fastest car cleaner to the first-place finisher as well as a $1,000 cash award. In addition, a silver medal and $500 will be awarded for second place and a bronze medal and a $250 award for third.

Finalists include Dennis Cagle from Detroit, Mich., Vince Cano from Colorado Springs, Colo., Angela Jones from Jacksonville, Fla., Jill Lake from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, Shawl Seyoum from Washington D.C., and Hugo Villanueva from Phoenix, Ariz.

"We work to deliver a level of service that exceeds our customers' expectations," said Murphy. "Through customer research, we learned that renting a clean car ensures a positive car rental experience for our customers, whether they are traveling for business or leisure. As a result, we're doing everything we can to ensure our Alamo, Enterprise and National rental cars are the cleanest in the business."
