Europcar Adds Electric Peugeot iONs to London Fleet
Europcar is adding the all-electric Peugeot iONs to several locations, including the Luton Airport. The EV will initially roll out on a day-rental basis only.
Europcar will add the new Peugeot iONs to its fleets in London after the car rental service made a global partnership with PSA Peugeot Citroen in October 2010. The car will initially be available for day-rental only so that the cars can be recharged daily at Europcar electric vehicle locations, the company announced in an Aug. 25 press release.
The electric vehicle will be available in several Europcar locations with one at the Luton Airport, as well as Europcar’s King’s Cross location for Eurostar travellers and near the Mable Arch — a major cross-street area and entrance to the city’s rapid transit system, London Underground.
Europcar, which provides service to six million users, will be the first rental provider in the United Kingdom adding the Peugeot iONs, the release states. This electric vehicle can go up to 60 miles on a fully charged battery without emitting any carbon dioxide, which gives cost benefits to business travellers because they won’t have to pay congestion charges in the large U.K. cities.
