Hertz On Demand, Hertz's global hourly car rental membership program, has been expanding its presence on university campuses in North America, and in a Nov. 7 press release, Hertz announces the addition of six new campuses. These campuses will round out a presence on more than 50 universities across the U.S.

"Hertz On Demand is the ideal membership program for students on college campuses that need a vehicle for an hour, for a day, or for a month," said Mark P. Frissora, CEO and chairman of Hertz. "We continue to expand our university network by providing Hertz On Demand throughout campuses in the U.S. With added benefits such as the exclusion of membership, annual, and late fees, and expanded one-way service to airports, there is no better time for students to utilize an hourly car rental program like Hertz On Demand."

Hertz On Demand launched on college campuses in February 2009, and has grown its network nationwide with the addition of the following schools: Cornell College (Mount Vernon, Iowa); Trinity University (San Antonio, Texas); University of Alaska Anchorage (Anchorage, Ala.); SUNY Geneseo (Geneseo, N.Y.); SUNY Oneonta (Oneonta, N.Y.); University of Connecticut (Storrs, Conn.).

Hertz On Demand members pay an hourly charge, must be 18 years or older and have a valid driver's license with a good driving record for at least one year prior to joining. Faculty, staff and students can take advantage of memberships and benefits from reciprocal membership at any Hertz On Demand location in the world, including New York, London, Paris, Berlin and Madrid.

Upon enrolling in Hertz On Demand, members receive a smart-chip enabled membership card, which gives them keyless entry to any car in the fleet that the member reserves. In the car, a hands-free audio kit connects members to a "Member Care Center" representative, should they have questions, need assistance or need to extend their rental.

The in-car technology also enables Hertz On Demand to "communicate" with the vehicle, enabling representatives to unlock, engage and locate vehicles. The technologically savvy cars are also equipped with iPod connectivity, NeverLost® in-car navigation systems and EZ Pass transponders.
