Average Rental Car Days Booked on Priceline.com Increases
The average amount of rental car days booked using the opaque travel website was seven days for the third quarter of 2011 — a 36% increase year-over-year.
Priceline.com Inc. announced its third quarter results for 2011 on Nov. 7 and highlighted each travel service purchased by consumers. Gross travel bookings for the company experienced an overall increase of 56.2% over a year ago at $6.3 billion, with 2011 Q3 revenues at $1.5 billion.
The company’s international operations contributed third quarter revenues of $953 million, in which global rental cars days went up 36% year-over-year, according to Jeffrey Boyd, president and CEO of Priceline.
The average rental car length for 2011 third quarter was seven days, up from 6.6 days last quarter, from 5.1 days compared to Q3 of 2010 and up from 2.6 rental days in 2009 third quarter. Average hotel days have also lengthened.
