Enterprise Holdings announced April 16 that it is franchising the use of its Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental brands to São Paulo-based Unidas, a Brazilian car rental operator.

The 15-year franchise agreement will bring the Alamo and National brands to Unidas’ more than 100 airport and city locations throughout Brazil. The franchise agreement marks Enterprise Holdings’ entry into the Brazilian market and helps the company substantially complete its Latin American footprint, according to Enterprise Holdings.  Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“We are very pleased to enter into a partnership with a company like Unidas, which shares our focus on customer service and strategic, sustainable growth,” said Greg Stubblefield, executive vice president and chief strategy officer for Enterprise Holdings. “This doesn’t just mark the opening of a new market for us, it enables us to give our customers travelling in Brazil access to brands they know and trust. And we’re confident that those customers — and our brands — are in good hands with Unidas.”

Pedro de Almeida, chief executive officer for Unidas, commented, “This franchise relationship, which brings together two truly customer-focused companies, gives us one more important way to provide customers with the best rental experience possible, whether they travel to Brazil for business or leisure.”

Enterprise Holdings also operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car brand in the UK, Germany and Ireland, and a franchise network that operates the National and Alamo brands throughout the Americas. Earlier this year, Enterprise Holdings acquired Citer SA in France and Atesa in Spain, and made a strategic investment in China-based eHi Auto Services.
