The Fiji Times reported that an increased rental car charge recently went into effect in Fiji. This increase was stated in the 2013 national budget announcement.

According to the Fiji Times report, Mohammed Sareem, general secretary of the Rental Car Association of Fiji, said that a $10 stamp tax will now be charged on all rental car contracts between the company and customer.

“The stamp duty is an additional charge that the customers who use rental cars will have to pay from today,” said Sareem.

This tax increase follows a 5 cent service turnover tax that was added to rental car sales last year.
