Honored for its M2M (machine-to-machine) car-sharing technology, Metavera received a gold medal at the 2014 Connected World Awards.
These awards took place at the Connected World Conference in Chicago, a global expo that presents connected devices within transportation, health/fitness, energy and home.
To allow unattended vehicles to be shared in urban areas, Metavera integrates in-vehicle technology with its car-sharing platform. The in-vehicle M2M technology delivers real-time data about vehicle usage, location and status, while securely controlling access and use of the vehicles to card-holding members when they reserve the vehicle, according to Metavera.
The Lock ‘n Track system uses a vehicle-mounted lock box to store the key of the shared vehicle and a GPS module that provides car-tracking information to Metavera’s car-sharing platform, says the company.
