The City of Cambridge, Mass., is proposing that carsharing services (such as Zipcar) can use private driveways and other residential parking spaces to park their vehicles, according to a report by the Boston Globe.
The proposal would allow property owners in multifamily buildings to let carsharing programs park short-term rental cars in off-street driveways or lots in the city of Cambridge, says the report.
Only private driveways or lots with at least four spaces would be eligible for the program. Owners of single-family homes would not be allowed to rent out their parking spaces, according to the report.
The Cambridge City Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed ordinance, says the report.
