Car rental agencies in the Detroit Metro area are seeing as much as a 15% uptick in business, compared to typical winters, as the city and residents are dealing with an increase in potholes due to a particularly brutal winter.

According to the Detroit Free Press, residents are turning to rental companies such as Hertz and Enterprise while their personal vehicles are being repaired.

Even rental vehicles are suffering from the pothole scourge.

One Hertz branch manager said that renters without proper damage waiver coverages may be liable for $75 to $200 for damaged tires.
