Police in Iceland recently removed license plates from 49 rental vehicles for lack of insurance, Iceland Magazine reports.

After stopping a man in a rental car on the north side of the island for speeding, police discovered it wasn’t insured and removed the plates from the vehicle. After police spotted more uninsured vehicles, they checked the entire fleets at five major rental companies throughout their jurisdiction.

Six vehicles at one company were found to be uninsured, and 43 at another. A police spokesperson said the uninsured vehicles were due to an oversight, and the companies took immediate steps to insure the vehicles.
