Car rental provider Move Mee reports an over 200% rise in enquiries from rental companies in North America and Europe for its contactless car rental solution. The surge is a result of the coronavirus crisis and customers’ needs to proactively seek a safer way to rent cars, the company said in a statement.
"With the world starting to move again following the relaxing by many countries of their lockdown procedures, customers have clearly and instinctively looked for car rental solutions to make their essential journeys,” said Move Mee CCO Phil Henrick. “Customers want to avoid a direct interaction, either queuing at the counter or at vehicle handover, with rental company staff or fellow customers.”
Officially launched in February 2020, Move Mee is designed to create a frictionless car rental experience. Customers undertake a one-time customer registration and validation process that allows them to skip the queues and/or visit a physical location. Customers access and inspect their vehicles using their phones through the Move Mee app.
Partnering with Huf Secure Mobile using its SixSense technology to support traditional car rental companies’ transition to a digital and contactless car rental experience.
Hendrick continued, "Move Mee is also receiving high demand from auto dealerships, who following the collapse in vehicle sales have spotted that customers are now searching for more flexible vehicle use and ownership opportunities. Dealerships are now looking to enter directly into the mobility market, to offer their customers a full range of mobility services."
According to the company, Move Mee operators are undertaking a strict valeting and sanitization of each vehicle and are providing customers with anti-bacterial wipes found in the vehicles.
