DETROIT -- Ford Motor Co. announced that Hertz's 2003 pre-tax profit was $228 million, up from $200 million in 2002.
Hertz earned $44 million in the fourth quarter of 2003, up from $27 million in the same period in 2002.
The year-over-year improvements reflected strong cost performance and improved leisure demand, partially offset by lower pricing, the company said.
