TULSA, Okla. -- Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group has acquired Thrifty Car Rental operations in Jacksonville, Melbourne and Cape Canaveral in the state of Florida. The acquisition, which adds approximately 500 vehicles to the company's corporate fleet, includes an in-terminal location at Jacksonville International Airport.

The terms of the transaction, which became effective Jan.15, were not disclosed.

"We are particularly pleased with this acquisition, the company's first in 2005, which strengthens our presence in a state recognized among the top leisure destinations in the world," said Jay Foley, senior executive vice president for corporate operations. "We now operate both the Dollar and Thrifty brands corporately in every major Florida market."
