ST. LOUIS -- Enterprise Rent-A-Car's charitable foundation in January donated $250,000 to the International Red Cross to help in the massive tsunami relief efforts.

"While our company does not operate in those portions of the world that sustained great physical damage from the tsunami, it is obvious from the outpouring of contributions from throughout the world that a disaster of this scale will require a comprehensive response of public and private funds," said Jo Ann Taylor Kindle, president of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation, the charitable arm of the company. "On behalf of our company and all 57,000 of our employees, we are happy to be able to help with this relief effort."

The company, which operates in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Germany, has a limited number of employees with origins in the countries that sustained damage from the tsunami.

"We are thankful that no Enterprise employees or immediate family members were hurt by the tsunami," Taylor Kindle said. "A number of our employees, however, do have extended family and friends in the affected regions. Our thoughts and prayers are with those people and all people who are struggling to come to terms with the impact of the events of December 26."
