Chicago –- Travel search engine Orbitz introduced a new, condensed car-booking path, allowing Orbitz and CheapTickets customers to book a car through a three-step process.

The process begins from the homepage. After an initial search, results displaying the total price, including taxes and fees, appear in the car matrix. The customer selects their preferred rate and clicks to advance to the purchase page.

There, details of the rental can be reviewed, and contract and purchase information is submitted. The "confirm reservation" button on that page finalizes the purchase, and the process is completed.

The three-step booking process is possible with the help of automatic registration, a debut feature that eliminates the need to exit the booking path to become a registered user.
