Enterprise Rent-A-Car recently announced that Dr. Roger N. Beachy, president and director of the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center in St. Louis, is joining Enterprise’s Board of Directors. Bringing Beachy on board is, in part, an effort to expand the company’s environmental platform.

Since 1999, Beachy has been responsible for developing and implementing the Danforth Center’s strategic direction, recruiting staff and formulating its research programs.

Beachy also serves as professor in the Department of Biology at Washington University. He has received numerous awards for his agriculture and microbiology research and is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.

The announcement came on the heels of Enterprise’s launch of the 50 Million Tree Pledge, through which the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation will underwrite the planting of 50 million trees – 1 million trees a year over the next 50 years in national forests around the U.S. and in the other nations where Enterprise does business.
