The Wisconsin state budget committee recently voted against including funding for a train in Racine County in the 2007-2009 state budget.

Major local funding for Kenosha-Racine-Milwaukee, or KRM, would have been a $15 car rental fee that would have raised an estimated $4.9 million per year in the three KRM counties.

“We’re pretty pleased with the outcome of this,” said Wisconsin Car Rental Association board member Dan Ewald,. “We’re not opposing the proposed commuter rail line, but we’re opposing the method of which it would be funded.”
