The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, in a move to ease congestion at its Terminal 3, recently said its board has approved a $3 million transportation center at the site.

The center, to be located on the east side of the terminal, will provide parking for rental car buses, according to a news release. About 12 buses circle the airport at any given time, and the center will help keep them away from the front of the busy terminal, which serves the Air France, Comair, Continental, Delta, Northwest and USA3000 airlines.

"The transportation center offers three important benefits: better traffic flow, lower emissions and reduced fuel burn," said airport CEO Robert Holscher in the release.

The project will be funded by airport car rental fees. Ground-breaking is expected in June, with completion in 2009, the airport said.
