Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber Inc. is set to design Hertz Corp.'s Shanghai retail center, which could be the global prototype for the rental car company's worldwide redesign, the Business Review Western Michigan reports.

The Grand Rapids, Mich.-based FTCH is meeting with Hertz officials and Chinese contractors to set the design, said FTCH Principal and Senior Vice President Eric Hugger.

FTCH has worked with Hertz domestically and internationally since 2000.

With the anticipated September completion of the Shanghai service center, Hertz could choose to make the design standards a prototype for their new international look.

According to the Business Review Western Michigan, Shanghai offers some unique differences in design, as well. For example, because China requires drivers to have a Chinese driver's license, most car renters also need a driver.

The interior design also includes Feng Shui principles, FTCH noted.
