Avis Budget Group announced March 26 that it has been honored as one of America's Top Corporations for Women's Business Enterprises by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). This marks the ninth consecutive year that the company has received this recognition.

“Avis Budget Group continues to lead the travel industry in providing innovative growth opportunities for women-owned businesses,” said Linda Denny, president and chief executive officer of WBENC. “The company's commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for women's businesses speaks to its leadership.”

Avis Budget Group was one of 19 U.S. corporations recognized in 2008 for superior supplier diversity programs that provide women's business enterprises equal access to corporate contracts. Others recognized include PepsiCo, Inc., IBM Corporation, United Parcel Service (UPS) and AT&T.

“Avis Budget Group has a long-standing commitment to providing women-owned businesses, as well as minority and small businesses with the same opportunities as large corporations,” said Ronald L. Nelson, Avis Budget Group chairman and chief executive officer. “Extending our reach to local communities is a critical element of our plan. From world headquarters to our field locations, our Strategic Business and Diversity Relations Unit collaborates with numerous organizations and agencies that promote opportunities for diverse suppliers.”

Avis Budget Group is also a corporate member of the Airport Minority Advisory Council, the National Minority Supplier Development Council, the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the United States Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce.
