Citing reasons such as lack of confidence in driving abroad to fear of costly accidents, and some citing that car rental is too expensive, only about 22 percent of British travellers rented a car for their last vacation, according to an Aug. 26 survey from Kelkoo, a Europe shopping comparison site. And for the next trip, only 33 percent will even consider car rental.

Public transportation is the more popular choice for the British poll-takers with about 40 percent saying they take some form of mass transit, and another 19 percent booking organized tours. Many Brits — 68 percent — drink alcohol on holidays, and another 57 percent report they enjoy partaking in some kind of cultural experience.
