New York-based car sharing platform Rent2Buy announced the launch of a new app on Sept. 11.

Rent2Buy’s new app connects individual renters to vehicle owners, allowing renters to test a vehicle before making the decision to purchase.

Once a reservation is made, the app allows car owners and renters to conduct a paperless vehicle inspection. The app records the car’s current condition by posting pictures of the vehicle — taken on the spot — ranging from the state of the tires, to any dings in the paint.

Both parties sign an electronic document and then receive a confirmation email.

Other features of the app include photo identification and driving history of renters, ability to make additional car reservations from a mobile device and access to a broad range of vehicles in renters’ local area.

The app will be available as a free download on Google Play for Android phones.

“The Rent2Buy Android app will address issues of security, convenience, and safety for our customers,” said Moti Kahana, CEO of Rent2Buy. “The app’s ease of use and array of features will make the car sharing and purchase process easier and more accessible, to consumers worldwide.”
