A global pandemic. A countrywide lockdown. An international travel ban. A 92% drop in commercial airline flights. A shutdown of auto manufacturing and auctions. A shift to local market travel options. A global semiconductor shortage that further diminishes supply. A new surge in air travel.

“The last 12 months will go down as the most tumultuous in the history of the car rental industry, and yet we’re seeing the light at the end of the tunnel,” said Chris Brown, executive editor of Auto Rental News. “What does the future hold?”

The International Car Rental Show (ICRS), the only trade event serving the global car rental industry, will convene in Las Vegas this August to find out. Presented in conjunction with the American Car Rental Association (ACRA), the 2021 ICRS will return as a hybrid in-person and virtual conference at Caesars Las Vegas Aug. 15-17.

“The ICRS will deliver the market intelligence, educational sessions, and peer networking that has been a staple of the event for 26 years,” Brown said. “Now more than ever, we invite the industry to gather to figure out the future together.”

New in 2021, the event will offer both in-person and virtual options for attendees. “This hybrid event format will expand opportunities for participants to connect from anywhere,” said Brown, ICRS conference chair.

For those joining in-person, health and safety is the #1 priority for ICRS. “We are crafting a plan based on guidance from the government, local authorities, our venue, other venues, partners, industry leaders, and several companies that are already leading the way for conferences, trade shows, and live events. Stay tuned for an update.”
