Ride-hailing group Lyft announced its plan to expand service into Vancouver, the Vancouver Sun reports.

The announcement comes on the heels of the British Columbian government's recent approval of regulations, licensing, and insurance measures for ride-hailing companies. Companies that want to operate can apply to Passenger Transportation Board (PTB) for permission beginning September 3.

The PTB will also set guidelines for fares, boundaries, and number of vehicles allowed.

Lyft's announcement also named Peter Lukomskyj as its general manager in British Columbia.
