Last week, Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard and Paris-based Bollore Group announced plans for an electric car-sharing program, which is set to start next spring.
Pending the mayor's signature, the tax in Marion County on rental car transactions will increase from 4% to 6%.
The proposal, which would increase the Marion County excise tax to 6%, is now set for a final vote on Jan. 28. The affected cities includes Indianapolis.
Renters in Marion County, Indiana, which includes Indianapolis, could pay an overall 17% tax to rent a car if the proposal to increase the local tax to 6% is approved by the city-county council.
