Online travel agency Expedia announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire Orbitz Worldwide Inc., including all of Orbitz’s brands, for $12 per share in cash. This represents an enterprise value of about $1.6 billion.
In an Orbitz partnership survey, of the more than 500 business travelers surveyed, 74% reported that they expect the same amount or more business travel this year compared to 2012.

Among these options, consumers who book a rental car rank the second highest in the overall purchase experience satisfaction ratings.
Surveys from both the U.S. Travel Association and Orbitz show that summer leisure and business travel should increase in 2012 compared to 2011, with 154 million Americans planning to take at least one leisure trip over the next six months.
Thrifty.com won first for overall technical quality, while Travelocity.com took first place for overall customer experience. The survey looked at 10 websites in the car rental industry that included both opaque and car rental company websites.
