Carsharing service Communauto hopes to expand to Calgary after discussing parking rules with the city, according to a report by the CBC.
Communauto is negotiating with the city about its parking time limits in certain neighborhoods, says the report. The city of Calgary hasn’t had an operating carsharing service since car2go left last fall.
“We hope we’ll have a formal proposal somewhere in January so that we will be able to launch something in the spring, beginning of the summer,” Marco Viviani, Communauto’s vice president, told the CBC.
Calgary has been looking to make some adjustments to its existing carsharing policies, according to Eric MacNaughton, a senior transportation engineer with the city.
“I’m hopeful that we would see at least one car company coming into the Calgary market in 2020,” MacNaughton told the CBC.
Founded in 1994, Communauto currently operates its carsharing service in 13 Canadian cities and Paris.
