The Washington, D.C., Department of Transportation plans to accept new applications from point-to-point carsharing companies to operate in the district, WTOP reports.
Companies that are selected will be allowed a fleet between 100 and 600 vehicles; operations will be covered through the end of 2019. Mid-year applications for 2019 open Aug. 5, and applications submitted after Oct. 31 will be considered for 2020.
Carsharing companies already operating in the area, such as Car2Go, will need to reapply for permits in 2020.
