Enterprise Adds Nissan LEAF to LADWP’s Business Rental Program
New Nissan LEAF electric vehicles will help LA Department of Water and Power reduce vehicle emissions and provide municipal utility with efficient business transportation.
LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - March 28, 2011) - Enterprise Rent-A-Car is adding Nissan LEAF electric vehicles (EVs) to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) Enterprise Business Rental Program.
"Embracing electric vehicles is part of our commitment to help new, clean technologies prove themselves in the marketplace," said Lee Broughton, director of corporate sustainability for Enterprise Holdings, which also owns and operates Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental.
"This is the first delivery of new generation electric vehicles to our fleet and we are pleased to do so in partnership with Enterprise," said LADWP General Manager Ronald O. Nichols. "Along with the LADWP seven-day process from permit to plug-in home charger installation program, and plans to upgrade legacy EV charging stations across the city, adding these Department-branded EVs to our fleet will help show our customers that Los Angeles is EV-ready."
Enterprise announced last year that it would be adding EVs at select locations throughout its neighborhood network of more than 5,500 U.S. Enterprise Rent-A-Car rental locations. Enterprise is working with all auto manufacturers to make EVs available for rental at its neighborhood and airport locations, and through its WeCar car-sharing program.
Last week, Enterprise announced that it is offering the Nissan LEAF EV for rental at its 1702 Santa Monica Blvd. rental location in Santa Monica, Calif. The Chevrolet Volt extended-range EV also became available to customers for rental earlier this year at Enterprise's location at Mark Christopher Auto Center in Ontario, Calif. Enterprise also is working with various Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) manufacturers to install Level II chargers at its neighborhood locations in cities where it does and will offer EV rentals.
