ST. LOUIS -- Enterprise Rent-A-Car Chairman and CEO Andrew C. Taylor led the National Urban League’s efforts to raise a record-breaking $1.5 million at the organization's 47th Annual Equal Opportunity Day Awards Dinner, held recently in New York City. Taylor was national dinner chair for the gala event, which also drew a record number of supporters.

"The success of this event reflects the outstanding success of the National Urban League," Taylor said. "People are willing to support the league in a big way because they know this is an organization that makes a difference in expanding opportunities for African Americans. We at Enterprise are proud to support the National Urban League and its mission in communities across the country."

Marc H. Morial, National Urban League president and CEO, said: "The Equal Opportunity Day Awards Dinner is our highest recognition of individuals, organizations and corporations who are helping to level the playing field and creating equal opportunity and access for all in our nation. We appreciate the efforts of Andy Taylor and Enterprise Rent-A-Car to make this year's event a triumph in every respect."

Taylor, who is chairman of the National Urban League's development committee and a member of its executive committee, also served on the search committee that selected Morial this summer as the organization's new president and CEO. Enterprise was a presenting sponsor of this year's dinner.

The Urban League is the nation's largest community-based organization working toward empowering African Americans to enter the economic and social mainstream. The National Urban League, headquartered in New York City, spearheads the nonprofit, nonpartisan movement, while Urban League affiliates operate in 105 cities in 34 states and the District of Columbia.
