Enterprise Holdings and the Hertz Corp. have been honored by the Global Business Travelers Association (GBTA) Foundation and Project ICARUS in the second annual Sustainability Outstanding Achievement Awards.
Enterprise Holdings and United Airlines received the Project ICARUS Sustainability Gold Medal. This medal recognizes travel and meeting industry companies who are committed to making sustainability a core function within their business and are leading the way by commitment and actions to provide best in class sustainability programs for their company, travelers and customers, says Enterprise.
“We are delighted that United Airlines is being recognized for developing industry best practice in their business travel programs and Enterprise Holdings are receiving their second medal for demonstrating continuous improvement in their sustainable products and services,” said Bernard Harrop, head of sustainability Project ICARUS.
Hertz and software design company Autodesk jointly received the Sustainability Award for their green business travel program, which increased hybrid and fuel-efficient rental car use among business travelers. This travel program also helped lower carbon dioxide emissions and reduced fuel costs, says Hertz.
“Hertz is always looking for opportunities to provide sustainable business value to our customers that deliver both cost and environmental savings,” said Mark P. Frissora, Hertz chairman and CEO. “Autodesk and Hertz’s mutual focus on improving sustainable business travel was a perfect fit for collaboration. Our joint effort to increase green vehicle utilization has been a huge success, and it's an honor to win this award with them.”
The sustainability award recognizes travel buyers, suppliers and intermediaries who can demonstrate leadership, innovation and commitment to delivering best-in-class sustainability programs, products and services across North America.
