Enterprise Rent-A-Car Introduces Computer-Aided Rental Trolley System
With the Enterprise Computer-Aided Rental Trolley (ECART), the rental agency can extend a branch network for however long required in order to respond quickly to higher demand.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car is rolling out the ECART (Enterprise Computer Aided Rental Trolley) across its UK business, which provides all the key technology from a standard branch in a portable unit, allowing Enterprise to transport its car rental network to wherever there is demand, according to a Nov. 15 press release.
Enterprise stated it has the largest branch network in the U.K., extending across 360 branches and to more than 50,000 vehicles nationwide, located within five miles of 75% of the population and 10 miles of more than 90%.
Whether at a customer site, exhibition hall or hotel lobby, the ECART allows a fully operational rental car service to be up and running within minutes. The only requirement is a power supply and a mobile 3G/GPRS signal.
Enterprise said the ECART complements the company’s free pick-up service, where customers are taken to their nearest branch before the rental and dropped off at a location of their choice afterward.
Rob Ingram, director/business rental at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, said the ECART gives Enterprise the flexibility to extend the branch network to wherever demand exists, for however long required. For example, the company can set up a temporary branch at a customer’s premises, or deliver ad hoc reservation services at special events.
The ECART features Enterprise branch technology, including terminals and ticket printer, housed in a steel-constructed trolley on maneuverable wheels.
