MILWAUKEE, Wis. -– Milwaukee County's General Mitchell International Airport opened a new con-solidated car rental center on Jan. 2.
Operators are now charging a $1 per-transaction surcharge to pay off the bonds used to construct the facility.
"Our estimate is that this will generate about $400,000 a year, and it will probably take five to six years for the car rental facility to be repaid through the CFC," said Pat Rowe, public relations/marketing manager for General Mitchell International Airport.
The new rental car center, featuring a high-tech design, holds counters and private office space for National/Alamo, Dollar, Thrifty, Enterprise, Budget, Avis and Hertz.

Rental operators can now detect and act on speeding while vehicles are still on rent, thereby reducing fines, admin workload, vehicle wear, and safety risks.
