Vulog, the French-based carsharing and mobility provider, will provide the technology to power Mocean Carshare, Hyundai’s new carshare service launching in the fourth quarter in downtown Los Angeles. Mocean is under the umbrella of MoceanLab, the automaker’s mobility service venture that will pilot multimodal transportation, autonomous ride hailing, and carsharing.

Vulog made the announcement on Tuesday during Automobility LA.  Vulog’s technology platform is also used by shared mobility services such as Evo, a British Columbia Automobile Association service, Groupe PSA’s Free2Move, Volkswagen’s WeShare, and Kia Motor’s Wible.

“Given LA’s position as a hub for mobility innovation, its traffic congestion and population density, the city presents tremendous opportunities for a platform company like Vulog to innovate and launch transformative technologies,” said Vulog CEO Gregory Ducongé.

Vulog said it plans to launch AiMA, the technology platform powering Mocean, in 20 to 30 new markets in 2020.
