Sen. McKell will join David Purinton of PurCo for a seminar at the International Car Rental Show that will show attendees how to effectively communicate car rental's message to local and state politicians.
Avail’s peer-to-peer carsharing service is now available at Salt Lake City International Airport. Currently, the service is also operating at airports in Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, and Phoenix.
However, last week, the Salt Lake City Council passed a law that will levy fines against people who conduct rental transactions at the airport via P2P companies, as those companies are currently not paying fees to operate at the airport.
Similarly, Salt Lake City is expected to pass an ordinance today that will levy fines between $500 and $1,000 on peer-to-peer carsharing companies that operate at Salt Lake City International Airport without authorization.
Several people who rent their cars on the Turo platform have reported being stopped by law enforcement while exchanging their vehicles.
No injuries were reported, but the damage to the vehicles is estimated at $500,000.
