The 2022 International Car Rental Show announces a speaker change for the opening keynote address.

Gerardo Bermejo, managing director of Europcar Mobility Group USA, and Gary Smith, chief countries officer of Europcar Mobility Group, will deliver the keynote.

Jose Blanco of Europcar and Mike Jaberi of Fox Rent A Car will no longer take part in the keynote presentation. However, as part of the keynote, Jaberi and Fox co-founder Allen Rezapour will briefly address attendees from the show floor.

Gerardo Bermejo will take on the role of managing director of Europcar Mobility Group USA, appointed on March 1, 2022. After joining the group in 2017, Bermejo served as CFO for Europcar Mobility Group Spain and took charge of the integration of Goldcar in Europcar’s Low-Cost Business Unit.

Bermejo has over 20 years of experience in senior automotive leadership positions, including for Citroën and for MIASA Group, as well as an international experience in China and the U.S.

Gary Smith is Europcar Mobility Group's chief countries officer, with responsibility over the company’s regional "clusters" and countries where the Group operates with fully owned subsidiaries. He joined the executive committee in July 2020 as managing director, Northern Europe & U.S.

Smith was previously managing director for Europcar Mobility Group U.K. and before that, finance director for Europcar Mobility Group UK. Smith has over 30 years of experience in the transportation and tourism industries.

“The international car rental community is eager to learn about Europcar Mobility Group’s roadmap into the future, and particularly its plans for the U.S. market,” said Chris Brown, executive editor of Auto Rental News and conference chair. “We’re excited to have Gerardo and Gary join us at the 2022 ICRS.”

Registration is open for the 2022 International Car Rental Show, convening April 24-26 at Paris Las Vegas. The keynote presentation takes place on Monday, April 25 at 11 a.m.
