Sharon Faulkner, executive director of American Car Rental Association (ACRA), and several ACRA board members traveled to Washington, D.C., to update legislators on the rental car industry and continue the fight against rental car excise taxes.
The ACRA team met with Congress members and had the opportunity to speak with Speaker John Boehner.
On the visit, Faulkner discussed the car rental industry and its value to not only the travel industry, but also to the broader U.S. and global economies.
Additionally, Faulkner continued to talk with lawmakers about ACRA’s federal agenda, including H.R. 2543 (the End Discriminatory State Taxes on Automobile Renters Act), which would prohibit future rental car excise taxes; S. 921 (the Raechel and Jacqueline Houck Safe Rental Car Act), which would govern auto safety recall procedures; and tax reform, the importance of customary business expenses such as like kind exchange (LKE) programs and depreciation.
