Toyota Motor Corp. will test a carsharing service using its mini electric vehicles in Thailand, according to a report by the Bangkok Post.
Starting in December, 10 one-passenger electric vehicles will be placed on the campus of Bangkok’s Chulalongkorn University, says the report. This carsharing service will be similar to pilot programs in Tokyo and the French city of Grenoble.
"We would like to spread a comfortable and convenient mobility network," said Keiji Yamamoto, a senior Toyota official, at a press conference.
During the pilot program, users can drive the electric vehicles for 30 baht for 20 minutes on campus between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays, according to the report.
Toyota plans to add 20 more electric vehicles at the school by next July, says the report.
