The American Car Rental Association’s (ACRA) Mobility Task Force held a “Day in D.C.” to promote the car rental industry’s interest in the public policy debate on the development and deployment of highly autonomous vehicles (HAVs).
While in Washington, D.C., the task force met with the property insurance industry, staff at the Federal Trade Commission, and the Republican and Democratic staff of the House Energy and Commerce and Senate Commerce Committees.
According to ACRA, the organization supports the development of HAVs as long as key safety, consumer protection, and liability issues are addressed.
“This was the task force’s most visible and active outreach to stakeholders on the HAV issue,” says Gregory Scott, ACRA’s lobbyist. “I expect there to be further dialogue with these and other stakeholders in the coming weeks and months.”
