The American Car Rental Association (ACRA) has stepped up its advocacy efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, the association reports.

ACRA has created a COVID-19 Special Task Force, appointed by ACRA’s president, which has been discussing ideas for policy initiatives to assist the car rental industry. ACRA has also followed the implementation of the CARES programs such as the Payroll Protection Program (PPP), the Title IV Facility for Small and Mid-Sized Businesses, the Main Street Program, and the Title IV Loan Facility for Large Businesses.

As well, ACRA has submitted numerous responses including to the Senate Commerce Committee outlining the impact of the pandemic on the car rental industry, whether existing federal programs had been effective in responding to those impacts, and what further recommendations ACRA has for future congressional action.

“ACRA has been on the frontline since the COVID-19 pandemic closed down the travel industry,” said Sharon Faulkner, ACRA’s executive director. “If your company is struggling during this crucial time for the car rental industry, and you are not currently a member of ACRA, then joining is the single most important decision you can make.”

Faulkner says ACRA can provide insights to help members navigate the Stimulus 4.0 or CARES 2.0 packages. For members servicing an airport, ACRA is pushing for concessionaire and MAG relief. ACRA is fighting for liability protection legislation to prohibit frivolous lawsuits associated with the pandemic.

Faulkner encourages nonmembers to renew or join the association through its website or by calling 888-200-2795.  To access ACRA news and the Inside Track Newsletter
