FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Alamo, the leisure-focused brand of ANC Rental Corp., has launched a new U.S. prepaid program for leisure travelers. Alamo is offering 10% commission to all travel agents whose customers prepay for leisure reservations in participating U.S. locations.

Alamo customers who prepay for reservations through June 30 can save up to 25% off Alamo’s retail rates.

Through this program, Alamo hopes to decrease wait time at service counters and offer customers a faster, more convenient way to pay for their rental car. By significantly lowering the rate of no-show customers, Alamo will also be able to better plan its fleet allocation, the company said.

"This program enables us to cut costs while offering our customers more choice in payment options," said Jeff Hawkins, ANC’s regional vice president of travel industry sales. "And we’re confident that customers who prepay, even those who are initially attracted to the 25% discount promotion, will realize the benefits of this program and continue to prepay in the future. It’s a very valuable program for our customers and our company."

The prepaid program will initially be available at 19 locations: Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Orlando, Tampa, Ft. Meyers, Seattle, Portland (Ore.), Denver, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Tucson, Reno, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Honolulu and Maui. ANC said the company anticipates that other locations will soon follow.
