Avis Car Rental continues to expand across Asia with the opening of facilities in China, Hong Kong, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan.

Additionally, Avis expanded its pickup location service in Indonesia, allowing customers to rent vehicles at four new destinations, according to the company.

The new facilities are located near transportation hubs or within hotels:

  • China: Clearwater Bay town center and Boao in Hainan

  • Hong Kong: Centre Point on Gloucester Rd. in Wan Chai

  • Laos: Ban Phonsavangtay in Savannakhet

  • Malaysia: Holiday Inn Melaka

  • Singapore: Orchard Hotel on Orchard Rd.

  • Taiwan: Accor Novotel in Taipei and at the Banqiao and Taichung train stations

The new Indonesian pickup locations include Hang Nadim International Airport, Batam Center Point Ferry Terminal, Harbour Bay Ferry Terminal and Sekupang International Ferry Terminal. These locations are not Avis facilities; the customer's vehicle is delivered to the specified location at the reservation date and time and the paperwork is completed then, according to the company.

"Expanding our network continues to be a key part of our global strategic plan," said Larry De Shon, president, International, Avis Budget Group. "The new facilities and pick-up locations will better position us to serve customers' needs and to drive sustained, profitable growth across the region and at some the world's busiest travel destinations."

Avis provides vehicle rental services at more than 300 locations in 20 Asian countries, from Brunei to Vietnam. It opened its first location in Hong Kong in 1970, says the company.
