With the opening of its first rental location in Vadodara (the State of Gujarat), Avis India has expanded its network to 20 cities and 45 rental locations, the most of any rental car company operating in India.

"With India now ranked as the world's third-largest economy, we see new opportunities to expand our network and range of services to more industrial and business centers throughout the country," said Patric Siniscalchi, president, Latin America/Asia-Pacific, Avis Budget Group. "We have invested in our India joint venture specifically to further expand our presence in this fast-growing vehicle rental market, and to improve our brand position in India by increasing our fleet and network there."

According to Avis, its locations throughout India are located in major downtown areas and industrial centers, with pick-up and drop-off service provided to and from major airports and rail stations.

Avis has been operating in India for more than 14 years — with a fleet of approximately 2,000 cars, including Audi, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Toyota and Honda — through a joint venture of Avis Budget Group and The Oberoi Group, one of Asia's leading hospitality companies.

"Vadodara, the third largest city in Gujarat, is growing as an important hub for business and leisure," said Sunil Gupta, chief executive officer, Avis India. "The opening of our new office was necessitated by more and more corporations coming to the city. We want to provide them with Avis' high-quality products and premium service here as well."
