Avis Unveils 2013 Vehicles Added to Fleet

The 2013 model-year vehicles include the Chevrolet Spark, Cadillac Escalade, Ford Fusion Hybrid, among others.

Avis Car Rental announced Nov. 13 that the new 2013 model-year vehicles have started rolling into Avis locations across the United States.

The Avis 2013 line-up features Chrysler, Kia, Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen vehicles as well as makes and models from other automobile manufacturers, including:

BMW — BMW's first roadster with a retractable hardtop, the Z4, and BMW's 740i sedan join "Avis Cool Cars," a collection of fun-to-drive vehicles. Available in January, the Z4 features rear-wheel drive and a 240-horsepower 2.0-liter engine. The 740i sedan has a 315-horsepower 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder engine, and joins the BMW 3-Series and 5-Series cars already in the fleet.

Cadillac — The Cadillac Escalade is now available in the Avis fleet. The vehicle seats up to eight passengers and features a 403-horsepower, 6.2-liter V8 engine that "moves from 0-60 in 6.8 seconds." The Escalade also boasts a rear-view camera, tri-zone climate control and a roof-mounted luggage rack. The all-new Cadillac XTS arrives this month. The front-wheel drive sedan features a 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers 304-horsepower and an eight-speaker Bose sound system.

Chevrolet — The Chevrolet Spark makes its debut in the United States and in the Avis 2013 fleet. The five-door, four-seat subcompact car is rated 38 mpg (highway) and is perfect for navigating around large cities. Beginning this month, the redesigned Chevrolet Malibu will also be available for rent. The LS model features a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine, 6-speed automatic transmission and an estimated 34 mpg (highway).

Ford — Joining Avis Cool Cars are two hybrid vehicles that each boasts 47 mpg (city and highway). These include the Ford Fusion Hybrid and the Ford C-MAX, the all-new five-passenger multi-activity hybrid.

Infiniti — With three rows of seating, the Infiniti JX35 crossover vehicle comfortably seats seven passengers. The JX35 also boasts two panoramic moonroofs, a 3.5-liter V6 engine, a power rear liftgate and tri-zone automatic temperature control. The JX35 will be available in January.

Volvo — The front-wheel drive Volvo XC60 crossover comfortably seats five passengers. In addition, the rear seat backrests fold down and provide more than 67 cubic feet of cargo space. The XC60 rolls in this December.

Many of these will also be available for consumer purchase through the company's Ultimate Test Drive program sometime next year. Ultimate Test Drive is available in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Nevada and Texas.
Availability of vehicles is limited and may vary by location.
