Avon Rent a Car Truck and Van Adds Diesel-Electric Hybrid Trucks to Fleet
The rental car company in Los Angeles and Santa Monica, Calif. now features 2013 Hino diesel-electric hybrid trucks in its fleet.
Avon Rent A Car Truck and Van added 2013 Hino diesel-electric hybrid trucks to its fleet in Los Angeles and Santa Monica, Calif., according to an announcement from Nelson Silver, founder and owner of Avon, on April 2.
Customers can rent the diesel-electric hybrid truck for the same daily rate as a traditional truck.
The new trucks feature 30% better fuel economy and a lower carbon footprint compared to standard diesel trucks. According to the truck manufacturer’s website, the new hybrid has the potential to burn up to 500 gallons less diesel fuel than a traditional truck and save an average of $2,000 in gas annually.
Silver said the addition of the trucks is the company’s next step to meet the needs of studio production and entertainment industry clients.
“It’s about being environmentally and socially responsible,” Silver said. “Avon’s hybrids are clean burning, powerful, safe and comfortable. We believe alternative fuel vehicles are the future and Avon’s hybrid trucks currently represent the greenest solution in the industry.”
Avon is the first rental agency in the U.S. to feature the trucks.
