A Chinese man who drove for ride-hailing group Didi Chuxing was executed last week after he was found guilty of raping and murdering a female passenger last year, Yahoo News reports.
According to a state run news agency, the man, Zhong Yuan, 28, was in debt and had planned on robbing a passenger prior to killing the 20-year-old woman.
Didi admitted it failed to act on complaints against Yuan after he drove another female passenger to a remote area, and followed her with his car after she was dropped off.
Following the murder, Didi suspended its ridesharing service. The company had previously suspended the service after a man posing as a driver murdered another female passenger.
